Microsoft Dynamics GP Moves to the Modern Lifecycle
With the October 2019 Release, Microsoft Dynamics GP is moving to the Modern Lifecycle Policy.
Like most of Microsoft’s other products (Azure, O365, etc) under the Modern Lifecycle Policy, Dynamics GP will now be serviced and supported continuously. In addition to additional updates as needed, Microsoft is committing to three updates per year including bug fixes, new features and the latest tax updates. This provides a predictable schedule and budget to help you plan your year. We (and Microsoft) will give you plenty of notice (12 mths) before any action needs to be taken. By updating to one of the three yearly planned Dynamics GP releases, you will stay current. All older releases, prior to the October 2019 release, will continue to follow it’s Fixed Policy Lifecycle timelines.
Below is the update schedule for Dynamics GP under this policy:
Do you need to upgrade your Dynamics GP system? No, your existing lifecycle is still valid. However, we strongly encourage you to do so, especially if you are still on Dynamics GP v2015 as Microsoft support ends April 2020.
This is an exciting announcement and shows Microsoft’s commitment to Dynamics GP! It provides a clear Roadmap for clients and partners as well as sets the proper expectations for the future.
